The Mechanism of the Brain

The Mechanism of the brain
Our Worlds

Thoughts are ideas or arrangements of ideas that are the result of the process of thinking.

I must have something to engross my thoughts, some object in life which will fill this vacuum, and prevent this sad wearing away of the heart.

(Elizabeth Blackwell)

Thoughts are artistic pages staged one after another to make a living organic book without any physical form. This book is very similar to a colouring book with a very specific theme. To bring it to life we need to colour it, by being resourceful making use of the infinite but elusive colours around us, or by just mixing the already existing but easily perceptible colours. This colouring can also be done by exploration of some new but specific colour tones.

The soul becomes dyed with the colour of thoughts.

(Marcus Aurelius)

From the starting of the day till the time we sleep, that which constantly shapes our life are thoughts. Even our dreams are nothing but extended forms of our thoughts.

The truth is that there is no actual stress or anxiety in the world. It is your thoughts that create these false beliefs. You can’t package stress, touch it, or see it. There are only people engaged in stressful thinking

(Wayne Dyer)

If we see life as a bed sheet, then each thread of this bed sheet is a materialized form of carefully analyzed thoughts. It is on us to decide how we want to see the final ready bed sheet with different variations, right from the very smallest detail like textures, fibres, and thickness to its design, overall look and much more. Take stock of your thoughts and behaviour. Each night ask yourself, when were you negative when you could have been positive? When did you withhold love when you might have given it? When did you play a neurotic game instead of behaving in a powerful way? Use this process to self-correct.

(Marianne Williamson)

All truly great thoughts are conceived by walking.

(Friedrich Nietzsche)

The cycle of thoughts

Thought is virtually an extended synthesis of actual life. The life we live is the achieved form of our previous thought. Now these current life circumstances will bring more thoughts, shaping our upcoming future and the process goes on and on and on. Most of us find ourselves trapped in this cycle which is very natural and that’s how our brain works.

However, some people do bring changes and modifications in their thought process so as to fulfil their desires. But improvisation or manipulation of certain variables is also needed in order to trigger some drastic changes. However, such changes can be realized only by understanding the self psychology and working behaviour of one’s self. This process is not so simple and becomes a challenge to execute at certain levels.

We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.

(Swami Vivekananda)

Each one of us, at some point of our life starts to feel or comes across this feeling that everything is predestined. That everything is written already. At times it seems that our each and every breath is decided in advance. Even the process like where and how we would inhale and exhale seems to be predestined.

At times it seems there is a supreme power, and there seems to be a continuous vigilance over our each and every movement. At times it feels that all our decisions are somehow influenced and in fact we are compelled to take those decisions.

But a little change or shift in our perspective would change our perception about the presence of a supreme power, influencing and controlling our each and every movement and decision. With a little shift in our perspective, we would start to feel that there is no other supreme power controlling our life but us.

If there is anyone to supervise or influence my decisions for my betterment and for a better future, it can only be me. Carefully watching my Self through a different quantum dimension of our own world, where we are connected through wormholes, would provide us exclusive access, through which we can share an out-of-box thinking.

But all these cascaded thoughts to understand and justify ourselves, as well as to understand how this process works, can on the contrary lead to a different path of creative confusion, bringing no subsequent change in our life.

I have always thought the actions of men are the best interpreters of their thought.

(John Locke)

Thoughts are mental energy; they’re the currency that you have to attract what you desire. Learn to stop spending that currency on thoughts you don’t want.

(Wayne Dyer)

Talking about the cycle of thoughts again, it is important to understand that thoughts lead our lives, eventually producing more thoughts and the process keeps going on and on. Though it is possible to bring changes in the current cycle, it is at the same time difficult as well to make it happen artificially.

Sometimes we try not to think about the thoughts that we want to eradicate or change, but at the same time to eradicate the thought we have to recall the same thought about which we don’t want to think again, bringing us in a dire situation.

At times we simply start superimposing new thoughts on the thoughts which we desire to get rid of. Such a process means one has to start thinking about something else altogether, which is also not a proper solution. It is a very difficult task to control our thoughts. According to a scientific data analysis, our mind generates more than 70,000 thoughts in a day, and most of them form a circle around a single thought. By numbers we can say, it is quite difficult to control or manipulate those many thoughts. Such a variable is bit more complex to handle but the other variables can be more significant, which is in this case our DAY TO DAY LIFE.

By bringing some positive changes in our current life, things can be changed.

We can bring some changes around us, then this would lead to positive thoughts and these thoughts would in turn lead to desired positive changes. Self-awareness, positive thinking and positive attitude will uplift our thoughts as well.

We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.

(Buddha)

The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts. Therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.

(Marcus Aurelius)

The more man meditates upon good thoughts; the better will be his world and the world at large.

(Confucius)

At the end of this article I would like to say that I am not someone who knows much about this mechanism of the brain but, whatever I know, I share so that we all can try to understand it and try to explore it further. I would like to write a follow-up to this article soon. If you want, add a comment and share your views regarding the ideas in this article. Thank you!
